The founder of Aegis Insight Group provides security consulting services grounded in a lifetime of service, protection, and risk management at the federal, state, and local levels. His career reflects a progression of responsibility across military service, law enforcement, federal operations, and intelligence work where sound judgment, discretion, and performance under pressure were required.
Military Foundation
His career began with honorable service in the United States Marine Corps, where he developed the discipline, situational awareness, and leadership required in high risk environments. During this period, he served in multiple operational contexts and received recognition for distinguished performance, experiences that established the foundation for a career focused on protection, risk management, and sound decision making under pressure.
Law Enforcement and Tactical Operations
Following his military service, he served in state law enforcement, where he refined advanced investigative and analytical capabilities while also operating in demanding and often high risk environments. During this time, he was selected as a SWAT team leader, conducting surveillance operations and executing sensitive missions requiring precision, coordination, and restraint.
Dignitary Protection Team
He was later selected for the dignitary protection team, a role limited to a small, highly vetted group of personnel. In this capacity, he provided close protection support for senior state government officials and visiting dignitaries, often operating autonomously and in direct proximity to the principal. His responsibilities extended beyond physical presence to include advanced planning and coordination, route and contingency development, venue assessments, and real time protective decision making. These assignments required discretion, independent judgment, and the ability to take decisive action under pressure, including responsibility for emergency response and evacuation when necessary.
Federal Air Marshal Service
At the federal level, he served as a Federal Air Marshal assigned to the Washington, DC Field Office. In this role, he operated in a covert, armed capacity aboard aircraft and within airport environments, with primary responsibility for protecting national aviation and broader transportation security interests from hostile threats. These responsibilities required exceptional situational awareness, disciplined restraint, and the ability to act decisively under extreme pressure, including coordination with international partners in support of security efforts.
Intelligence Officer - Multi Agency
He later served as an intelligence officer assigned to a multi agency fusion center, working with partners from the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Marshals Service, and other federal, state, and local agencies. His primary role involved developing threat profiles and assessments for high profile individuals and events. During live or emerging critical incidents, he served to interpret unfolding events through the lens of operational experience, prioritizing assets, anticipating outcomes and facilitating rapid responses.
Academic and Advisory Contributions
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Safety Management and Criminal Justice from Indiana University, and is a graduate of Louisiana State University's Homeland Security National Training Program. He is also a frequent guest lecturer at two Big Ten universities, speaking to graduate level audiences on counter terrorism operations, intelligence collection and analysis methodologies, and analytical frameworks used in real world threat environments.
